Mail Me Home Dresser

I managed to finish several pieces of furniture this week. This one has been my favorite this week.

This dresser started out white, with so many coats of paint it was difficult to open the drawers. I apparently missed the sound of the sander running. Before I knew it my husband had grabbed the sander, and it was too late for a true before shot. So the picture below is a half way photo.

The style of the dresser reminded me somewhat of a shipping crate, so I went with a Carte Postale theme. I added lettering, and beautiful French written postcard images from The Graphics Fairy. Images found here, here, here, and here.

A little more sanding and some coats of wipe on poly.

I am working on a transfer technique for painted wood, that is fairly foolproof. So far the one I used here has been the most promising. After I get the bugs worked out I will share it with you. As in all my tutorials I will share what works, and what doesn’t. Basically the good, the bad, and the ugly.

  7. I love what you are doing in your bedroom. It is giving me a lot of inspiration to get at my painting projects for my home. I am waiting for the warm weather which has not really arrived as yet. The only place I have to paint and create is in our garage which is not heated. I am keeping an eye on your projects; thank you for sharing.
